ALF/RCF Administrator Training Program

We are excited to sponsor this Oregon state-approved training program for assisted living and residential care administrators. And you don’t have to wait to get started!

The training program features learning opportunities designed to give you the flexibility that you desire, the opportunity to experience an assisted living/residential care facility “in action,” and the information you will need to successfully operate an Oregon ALF or RCF as an entry-level administrator.

The state-approved ALF/RCF Administrator Training Program includes the following components:

  • An online Assisted Living Administrator Certificate Program available through Easy CEU. This component requires a separate registration with Easy CEU. This component must be completed prior to the online Oregon Assisted Living/Residential Care addendum.

  • An online Oregon Assisted Living/Residential Care addendum and a two-day “internship” at an Oregon assisted living or residential care facility. Register for the Oregon addendum and the two-day internship through LeadingAge Oregon.

If you are interested in becoming an ALF or RCF administrator in Oregon, we encourage you to review the State of Oregon ALF/RCF Administrator Qualifications and Requirements. Although any interested individual is welcome to take this course, it is important that you know ahead of time whether you currently meet the required qualifications, or whether you have more work to do to prepare for this new career.

After reading the above Qualifications and Requirements, should you have any questions about whether or not you have the appropriate credentials, please contact the State and ask for a credential review at: [email protected]

New ALF/RCF Administrator Licensing Information

**If you have not begun the ALF/RCF Administrator Training, we can not guarantee you will be able to complete the program by the July 1 deadline for submitting applications as a Currently Practicing ALF/RCF Administrator.**

(posted 05-24-19)
Per House Bill 4129 (2018), all assisted living/residential care administrators must be licensed by January 1, 2022. As of May 15, 2019, all current ALF/RCF administrators can begin to apply for a permanent or provisional license. Applications, along with the application fee, must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service no later than July 1, 2019, or received by the Health Licensing Office (HLO) no later than July 1, 2019, by 4:30 p.m.

After that date, all individuals must apply for licensure through the pathway described in OAR 853-035-0000 which will require taking and passing the Oregon rules and licensing exam yet to be developed.

Licensing information and the application form can be found on the Residential Care Facility Administrators Practitioner Information website. A fillable application can also be found here: Currently Practicing ALF/RCF Administrator Licensing Application.

The permanent rules just adopted by the LTC Administrator Board can be found on the Long Term Care Administrators Board Laws and Rules website. A “user-friendly unofficial copy” can be found here.
